Match Reports :

Saturday 17th July

We seem to play better in the morning games.

Once again, you showed how well you can work as a team.  With everyone holding to their positions it makes such a difference to the way the game plays out.

Thank you, Jedd for putting in such a great performance when you were so sick (we really appreciate your commitment to your fellow team mates, not wanting to leave them short, a few others should take note).

Congratulations to Billy and Matt, great goals to finish off some great setting up by your team mates.

Wyoming played more defensively in the second half and our goalie Jeremy had to work a little harder than in the first half.

It is unfortunate that this game will not be classed as a win, as Umina closed their ground on Saturday, making for a washout week end again.

If you all play as well as you have in the last 2 weeks, it should make for an exciting end to the season

Keep up the good work kids.

Saturday 3rd July

Welcome back!

Last week you showed that you are capable or working well as a team against a very strong side.  Today, although we lost, the teamwork you all displayed on the field was brilliant.

Congratulations Ben on your first goal in 2 years (persistence does pay).

Although we miss him on the field Jeremy is doing wonders in goals, keep up the good work.

Mateo did the team proud in his final appearance for us.  We wish him and his family well in their move abroad (He will be missed on Saturdays).

I’m sure that that all the parents and supporters will agree with coach and I that today was one of your most enjoyable matches to watch.

WELL DONE EVERYONE!

Saturday 26th June :

I think we were all a little surprised to find that our game was still on this morning,  and when we arrived at Edsac I thought the kids might need gumboots ( I know I did).

We knew that this week’s game would be hard against Killarney, they have quite an impressive record of hire scoring wins to date.  But I think our team did really well to keep their scoring as low as they did.

Unfortunately with such defensive play required, there were not many opportunities to score for our side.

Well done kids, you made Killarney work hard for every goal they got.

Saturday 19th June :

Congratulations Woongarah on your first win of the season.

I know we are missing players kids, but really, what happened to the team that started the season with 4 wins in a row.

You don’t listen to instructions (YOU ALL KNOW BETTER THAN COACH), you don’t stay in your positions ( YOU ALL HAVE BETTER PLACES TO BE ), all that boring training you all hate so much but have used  so successfully in earlier games ( NOT  happening, NO communication, NO passing, NO  team work at all).

I would appreciate ALL parents and kids at training this week (if possible, if not ring me), so we can discuss how to help put the team back together before we fall any further down the ladder.

Saturday 12th June,

There’s really not a lot to report about the game today. I’m not sure if it was the long break without a lot of training and no games, or we were missing Emma.

Sunday 13th June,

What a difference a day makes!  Even though we went down to Kariong, 3/2 the team played really well stopping quite a lot of goal attempts from Kariong.

Jeremy scored his first goal for the team, James added to it in the second half.  It was unfortunate that we were unable to level the score, but with the defence held firmly in place all attempts were rebuffed.  Jedd once again got a good work out in goals (thanks for a great effort Jedd).

Sharni make sure you shoes fit next week.  Hopefully well have most of our team back too.  See you at training Tuesday.

Sat 15th May

Wow!! What a fantastic game.  Great teamwork, communication, passing you did it all today, congratulations! (all that boring stuff at training is starting to pay off).

Jedd once again did a marvelous job in goals, backed up by a great defense.  Owen I know you don’t like being there, but you did a wonderful job in defense today, it also allowed Lachlan to be in the right place at the right time to equal the score.

I think both teams thought the refereeing was a little zealous, but after the game the ref spoke to coach telling him that it was the most enjoyable game that he has refereed this season, noting that both teams played extremely well and enjoyed themselves on the field. Heads high kids, you’re doing great.

Sat 8th May

What an exciting match to watch on a sunny Saturday morning.  I think that all the parents would agree that the first half saw our kids playing one of the best games of the season (nerve racking for those of us on the sidelines).

Although we were defeated, I don’t think the final score did justice to the effort that our players put in against Killarney.

Great game kids, hold your heads high you did well against a very strong team.  Remember you can only improve with practice, take your training seriously and we will have a better result next time we face them.  See you Tuesday.

Sat 1st May
I’m not sure if it was the wet weather or late start, but the team was not paying attention and were caught by surprise when Woongarah scored in the opening minutes of the game on Saturday morning. It should have been a wake up call for everyone, but a very slow game with only the occasional spurt of excitement and near misses to brighten an overcast morning for the parents on the sidelines. The half time score was 3-1 in our favour.
The start of the second half found everyone asleep again with Woongarah adding another 2 to their score before we rallied to take us eventually  to a 6-3 win.
Not one of our better performances, hopefully we can find that magic spark that was there in earlier games for the next couple of weeks, when we face some tougher competition.

Sat 24th April
With two wins behind us, I think the team may not have played with the same enthusiasm that we have come to expect from their previous performances.
Southern Ellalong only had 9 players, but those players played extremely well.  It was an unexceptional first half, with only the occasional spurt of energy.  It looked like remaining nil all, until Emma  managed to score a goal a few minutes before half time.
Our new player Jeremy, made quite an impression unluckily missing out on two goals, I think he will prove to be quite an asset to the team.
The second half proved to be a more entertaining, with everyone paying more attention, communication between players improved and the passing was better.  William did a fantastic job in goals today, saving several goals.  ( A well earned player of the match).
With the help and support of the team Emma managed to add another two goals to our score (giving her another hat trick), while we only conceded one goal to Southern Ettalong.
Keep up the good work, we’ve got some hard games coming up soon.

Sat 10th April
We were not looking forward to our first game of the season, with 3 players unavailable and 2 leaving for greener pastures, having only 9 to take to the field seemed a lot to ask of our new line up.
Fortunately William was able to sign up late bringing our numbers up to 10.  The game was played at 11am (by which time it was getting quite warm) at Wyoming, the apposing team only had 12 players available ( they had borrowed players from other teams).
It became apparent quickly that with the reduced numbers, our guys stepped up and played brilliantly.  With lots of communication and passing well, James was able to score early ( his first goal in quite a while), not to be out done Emma with lots of support from her team mates took us to a 2 nil lead at half time.
Wyoming scored first in the second half, but the team rallied, a few opportunities to score went unrewarded, but.
