Match Day 5

Last week we travelled to the Mountains for a 9 am kick off. It just doesn’t feel like a real season unless it includes a 9am game at the Mountains, Umina or Southern Ettalong. We got into our warm-ups, (conventional and otherwise) and we were right to go. The game was scrappy at best, with neither team controlling the game. The ref was letting the game flow for the most part, overlooking some niggling tackles. We created a few half chances in the first half but no goals resulted. The boys came in for half time and we thought if we could stay solid in defence, we will get the 3 points. The second continued similarly to the first half. We had the feeling that there would only be one goal in it. Thankfully we got that one goal from a shot just outside the 18 yard box from Jay. Not long after that, an opportunity fell to Macca to double our lead. A loose ball just outside the area was pounced on but unfortunately the goals were built too short and it sailed over the top. The game finished one nil. A great effort by all, especially our defenders.

Match Day 4

'Today on cover to cover, we look at one of the greatest  games ever played between Toukley and Woy Woy in All Age 4. We made the trek down to Woy Woy knowing that no one had scored against them this season so far. Our start proved that they could score and we were soon down one nil after ten minutes or so. Some time after we picked ourselves up and hit back through Millsy off a glorious cross. Both teams had more chances but the half finished one all. The 2nd half got a bit fiery with 'The Grubs' getting a bit more physical. We had to lift our game with Burkey putting together some good hits and the midfield setting up a lot of chances. The breakthrough came with the Trivia King putting away a good volley from the 6 yard box. To put the game beyond doubt the Woy Woy keeper was given the biggest hospital ball and the sniper Jay pounced sending the keeper 18 feet (or so) into the air for an easy tap in. An awesome comeback, making it one of the greatest matches played. I'm Barry Bissel.'

Match Day 3
After some solid turnouts at training, we expecting the boys to really fire this week. Unfortunately our start was a bit sketchy. Neither team dominated with opportunities appearing at either end early. Clarky took advantage of a free kick just outside the area to beat the keeper on the near post. Avoca must have had secret footage of Macca's magical goal last week, as they scored from similar range. One-all at half time.
After a chat and a drink, we were back out on the field. Our second half was much stronger with many more chances. Clarky got his second via a penalty. Jay and Millsy both had chances on the break but were unlucky. More shooting practice needed. We made a few subs and the pressure continued. Whybs made an insightful run through 8 or 19 of the opposition, unfortunately he tried to pass it and the move came undone. Not long after Jay (obviously inspired by Whybs) struck home our third. Our fourth involved Kevie graciously chipping a defender, Hollywood then ran onto it and repeated the dosage on the keeper.

After the game we settle down to watch Glasshouse back up for first grade. He was only outclassed by the stunning ensemble worn by the opposition keeper. Ads, you are going to have to accessorise to make it in the big leagues. The boys cheered on grade as well as the Ultimate Frisbee held on field 2.

Match Day 1
Everyone was keen for our first game of the year. We dusted off our boots and the spud and headed south. We were happy to have our away game against Kincumber early in the season but the result wasnt what we wanted. Our lack of fitness and poor finishing sure cost us as we created many more chances but failed to capitalise. We conceded the first goal before half time and we thought we had equalised a few times but apparently the linesman had received a text that we were offside. We equalised through a fantastic strike from halfway by Jay early in the second half. Unfortunately the winner was scored by Kincumber late in the game. The effort certainly wasnt lacking and despite the loss, things look positive for the season to come.

Match Day 2
After last week, we were eager to put things right and take the 3 points. With the Nowra local (Pete) off causing trouble in his home town, we thought we would change a few things from last week. With a new look team it was a solid performance by all & a brace of own goals certainly helped our cause. The highlight without a doubt was the lightning bolt Macca struck from about half a yard out. The poor keeper had no chance and it put the game beyond doubt. Sure, a few others scored (thanks Jay and Hollywood) but they were in Macca's shadow.
