Result – Toukley 4 – 0 winners
What a great way to start our 1st home game of 2011 season. There were many great performances from forwards to backs & the score line reflects this. Dean Pepper was a standout finishing some great opportunities & going more than close a couple more times with shots on goal hitting the posts.
Dylan Mathews Turner had an outstanding game controlling mid field & assisting in most of the opportunities that came our way.
The defensive efforts of Nick Duncan & James Baker were one of the main reasons we were able to hold opposition to a nil score line. Brent Campbell played a strong game for a younger player in our grade squad & more than held his own.
The most pleasing aspect of the win is there is now depth & competition for 1st grade spots that will be hotly contested during the course of the season.
We should also mention that there were 3 Under 18,s who more than stepped up to the mark even though they had already played their own game just 1hr before.
Thank you to coaches of Under 18 sides that allowed these guys to back up & play a great role in getting our 1st win of the season & great to see younger talent get a start in grade & all looks good for the future of our club.
